Ask where uncertainty creates work

Collect aggregate descriptions of repeated questions and unclear ownership. Avoid gathering private employee messages or sensitive personal information.

Define the measurement

Possible measurements include time to find an answer, repeat questions, and accuracy on agreed scenarios. Record how the measures were collected and whether participants are comparable across periods.

A change in these measures does not establish an improvement in code quality or a neurological effect. Treat productivity value as an explicit financial assumption until the relevant evidence is available.
